DAY NINETEEN
SAN DIEGO, CA
Today, Lily's family went to Legoland, so Kenny and I drove down to San Diego. We took I-5 down, which is really insane. The freeway is anywhere from 5-7 lanes at any time, and traffic is no joke. It's always at least a little bit congested, and people here drive fast and a little bit crazy. We saw an accident happen the other day where the guy next to us completely rear ended the driver in front of him. Since then, I've been a little bit wary of the freeway, but you really don't see road rage and aggressive drivers the same way you do at home.We got off at the exit for La Jolla, and extremely upscale beach town about 20 minutes north of San Diego. This area is beautiful, with lots of shopping and dining. We walked down to the beach, where we saw an awesome cave with little seals hanging out around it, and as we walked further down the coast, we saw they continued onto the beach and it's surrounding rocks.
We continued on to Mission Beach, which we really liked. It was more populated that La Jolla, and seemed to have a younger feel. Kenny got a haircut at West Coast Cuts, and I did some shopping at the Brandy Melville store, which I was excited to see in person!
We stopped at a souvenir shop, and got some cheap gear, and continued on into San Diego. We went to an awesome taco shop recommended by Stephanie, called La Luche Libre. It's Mexican wrestling themed and delicious.
We drove around the downtown Gaslamp Quarter, which is historic looking and pretty happening.
We parked at the Seaside Harbor, which also has shops and restaurants. We decided to head back and meet the family for pho in Oceanside.
